Christ University MBA Review By Biswajit Haldar

Christ College is one of the most happening colleges of the country and over the years the college has transformed from being affiliated to the Bangalore University to attaining the status of Deemed University. The campus is always full of life and students of various departments are seen gearing up for an event related to their courses. I joined Christ Uni after completing my graduation from Jain University. MBA at Christ University may not be that famous like its UG courses but the overall experience at the campus was just worth it. The college has given various artists and some famous names include Nidhi Agarwal, Vijay Suriya, and Reba Monica John among many others. The cultural fests and Christmas celebration at Christ was like celebrating a foreign film festival. Christ is something else and I don’t know how to write that in words. The college is up and down in some areas but it has mesmerized me for sure.

The Academia is more about research and learning. The books are touched only a week before the exams as we couldn’t get away with the amount of research work that we were asked to do. In MBA, attending classes is compulsory and who will skip when the campus is full of life. The academic is taken care of jointly by the teachers and the students as during our batch few sections left uncovered and we were assured that these questions won’t come in the exams. Ideally this is wrong but since it’s a Deemed university it has its own rules and no one can expect any changes in them. The timings were manageable as the college hours were from 9am to 4pm.

Actually pretty cool and gave all the students a sense of comfort. Yes at times they were way too demanding but gave us enough time to chill. The best part was that faculty members too participated in our researches and shared all their experiences. Most of the faculty members have done PhD in the respective subjects and there’s no question in doubting their abilities. They taught well and also helped us in every possible way that they can.

Christ MBA Placement in 2018 average CTC was higher than that of 2017. It was Rs. 6.25 lakhs in 2017 and in our batch it was almost Rs. 7 lakhs. The highest CTC offered was from IBM for Rs. 14 lakhs. Out of 240, some 220 participated and I think all of us got the campus placement. There were over 50 recruiters and the ones that were prominent included Goldman Sachs, EY, KPMG, Delloite, Godrej, and Amazon group. A MBA student from this college will crack a deal for sure. We were even trained before the placements and did nearly 40-50 auditions before the d-day. Finally the day was sealed by all the students who applied for placements but it is to be noted that I did MBA in Marketing, the HR departments placement were certainly not as great as ours.

The campus has various hostels with different name. For MBA though separate hostels are reserved and that made out life easy as it was just 100 metres walk to the admin block. The rooms are by and far the same as you will find everywhere. The reason for not installing AC in the hostel is a lame reason that Bangalore weather is so cool that AC is not required. The hostel has a recreation or the common area where evenings were spent. The time I had at Christ hostel was one of the best as making fun of teachers and poking at students was the menu of our evenings at the hostel. The food at the mess was average considering the amount they charged.

The college infrastructure is not just modern but has something in it for all. For the sports lovers it has almost all the sporting facilities. For book lover’s there’s not 1 but 2 libraries. LEDs are placed at various corners and all the announcements of the upcoming events are being shown in those LEDs. The college has I don’t know how many labs but labs for each departments and that too in numbers. Then there are large auditoriums and stage where the events used to take place. Being a big time foodie I love having variety in my food and college has taken care of people like me by having around 10 canteens and all serving different foods. The medical emergency room in each department was commendable. Infrastructure wise no college can even compete with Christ.

From school I went to a college where people hardly repeated their clothes. Then finally came back to a college where again I has to get myself stitched in a uniform. Lovely may not be the right word but my life at the college was lovely. Every day encountering with new students. Participating in fests and other competitions made up our spare time. The campus has ample area to find a corner and sit with a group of friends. The campus is lush green and full of life. The crowd is awesome as it is mixed of upper class and middle class students. The college also runs scholarship programs and thereby giving underprivileged people to be a part of Christ family.
