Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences BBA Review By Yashwardhan Jaiswal

When MSRUAS was created nobody heard about it. I was targeting Ramaiah College, and Christ University, but because I couldn't get admissions there, I chose MSRUAS. One will have to credit the students who enrolled at MSRUAS because even though it was a new University, it wasn't short of students even in its initial years. My point is that I showed faith in the University because of the group that was running it. In return, the University also valued the students that joined MSRUAS. I today see MSRUAS as a huge amount of pride as I learned so many things here that putting them into words is not possible. I still remember the farewell party when I was left numb and broken into tears because I couldn't leave the University so easily. The University played in a fashion that few Universities in India do. They have adopted all the tricks straight from the top Universities of the world, and that is one of the reasons some students of my batch went on to do masters from Kellogs Business School, and Harvard Business School.

Yes, the academics were terrific; the classes were held on time, and attendance was strict. Keeping attendance strict can never ensure good education. However, making attendance strict and then making the classes interesting can. MSRUAS knew that old cliché, and that was why, they have been excellent throughout, because the course was hard and fast, but we could manage the course on our own. Many optional subjects were included and some irrelevant too, but for those who want to learn and grow can seize this as an opportunity. So, the post-mortem of academics for three years was that they were a few modules short, because the modules that were included in our course ended a bit too soon.

Here we are talking about people who were the best teachers on earth. I will give plaudits, and kudos to them for taking us so far in our careers. When I look back now, what I see is the faculties did their job, but the placement department should have learned a few tricks out of their bag and then I would have rated the Institute 10 on 10. The change of mindset was the biggest contribution of them as we all came to the university to have better placements while they taught us on how to start our start-ups. Some of my batch mates have done it and I wish them all the best. All this happened because our faculty backed us in whatever ways they could.

MSRUAS not having 100% placements is a rare case, but honestly, it's the brutal honesty because the placements were a little below par. Placements is always a special thing to boast about any University and having boasted the above three departments, I am sad to say that I have some sorry words about the University for placements. However, it wasn't all gray as grass was some green too, because some or rather close to half the strength of our batch had placements.

I was lucky to get the hostels because many students who enrolled late at the University had to arrange their accommodation on their own. The campus hostel was filled first, and then the campus which was a little far from the campus. Even after having one campus and two off-campus hostels, it wasn't enough, as the demand was such that at least 3 or 4 hostels would have been required. Never mind though, as I got the hostel, which was good enough as my traveling time was saved and the hostel was also not that expensive. The cost of living at the hostel was worth it, as the rooms were good, and food was still above average, if not in the bracket of being called great.

The campus is big and also the facilities are big. The running track was an Olympic size track because all the races that are held at Olympics could be organized at the running track of the campus. The departmental library was quite small, but the University central library made up very well for it. The smart classrooms were amazing because along with air-conditioned classrooms, the library has infused enough technology to make the classes interesting.

Not much to tinker about campus life as it was one of the best. Outsiders never felt outsiders or shown exit doors because they were outsiders. Students even who were local, valued students coming from far-off places. The University had students from states like Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu. Coming this far and not enjoying campus life would have put a certain break at the University but University instead greeted everyone with open arms and made sure that students of the University can lead a great campus life.
