Thapar University, Patiala - My Experience

Overall Rating
Overall, I would say that I made quite a good decision choosing this college. The campus life here is something you would look back upon many years in the future and cherish. From healthy and good competition to constant engagement in one thing or other, is it student chapters, events, academic work, etc. This university has the potential to give you the means of achieving what you have always envisioned.
 

Academics Rating
The academics at this institute are quite up-to-date. They take no time in updating and conforming the syllabus to the industry standards and changes. There is quite some competition due to the large number of students, however, it is all the more rewarding when you beat the competition and stand out, as there are quite lucrative scholarships on the merit of CGPA.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty is what makes a group building a university. They are an integral part of our lives and impact our future. Faculty here is quite qualified and learned in their field most of the time. They are quite helpful even outside the classroom. Students can approach the faculty of their choice in their cabin at specified times or with prior appointment and discuss any idea or proposal they might have and even collaborate with them.
 

Placement Rating
The placements are one of the shining stars of this college. Even during the recession period, Thapar managed to secure an average placement of about 12 lakhs. There is an active placement cell on campus that is quite active and responsive. Many companies visit the campus like Apple, IBM, Arcesium, and Intel to name a few. Companies even visit the campus to provide internship opportunities to 2nd and 3rd year students.
 

Hostel Rating
The hostels here are quite nice and easily comparable to a 3-star hotel. There are a variety of room options to choose from, like single seater, double sharing, triple sharing, AC, non-AC, attached or sharing washroom, etc. There is a separate mess for each hostel. The majority of messes are managed by Sodexo, which sets a pretty good standard for food in general, let alone college messes in India.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The infrastructure here is relatively modern and well-planned. We see a new project being made every other semester. From world-class lecture halls to an artificial lake, this campus has it all. The laboratories are well-equipped and well-maintained. There is even a separate sports complex planned out.
 

Campus Rating
The campus at Thapar is quite lively. You can just step out of your room and find something to do or find a place to kill time unplanned. There are many spots to hang out throughout the campus, from various eateries to open-air theatre to various sports like lawn tennis, basketball, cricket, volleyball, badminton, swimming, etc.

    My overall experience with this institute is quite good. Thapar University is prestigious institute that was established in 1956. It has a strong alumini network. Admission process is through JEE mains and boards percentage. There is no interview before admission. As it is a private college it has a high fee. Cutoff for CS branch is 96 percentile and 97 percentages in boards for general outside Punjab. It has overall good placements.... Read Full Review

    The overall experience at Thapar University Patiala was really good. The teachers were really supportive, and I enjoyed my 4 years of engineering at the campus.     Thapar University is a great university in terms of education. The teaching faculty is top notch; the teachers are very friendly and cater to every query in no time.     Thapar University is a grand experience, where you get to meet people from all over India and interact with and learn from them. I have made some of my best friends here and they too have learnt something about my culture.
