Kamala Nehru College is a part of the University of Delhi. It was established in the year 1964 as a government college for women. The institute offers degrees in the fields of humanities and commerce. My decision to get an admission into Kamala Nehru College for women was directed by the fact that I really wanted to be a part of DU, as it is known for excellence in education, in science, humanities as well as commerce. Going to KNC was easily one of my best decisions because the amount of exposure I got in terms of academics as well as education is definitely unparalleled. The college does not just offer a degree but also offers a kind personality development that is extremely crucial for young women about to take on the world. Offering the existence of multiple extra-curricular societies paired with an environment that exudes creative freedom. Kamala Nehru College is hands down a great option for humanities as well as commerce students looking for an admission in a good college.

Courses offered in KNC range from BA Honours (single discipline) to BA Program (two disciplines) to Masters (in certain disciplines). The eligibility criteria for the respective aforementioned courses are dependent on the CUET scores of the candidate. Other requirements include minimum passing criteria for 10th and 12th scores of the candidate but ultimately, the admissions predominantly based on the CUET scores of candidates. Therefore, the focus of candidates must largely be on the performance in CUET on the basis of which they can enrol themselves in one of the aforementioned programs as per the admission criteria.

The faculty in Kamala Nehru College can be best described as creative, experienced, open-minded, and knowledgeable. The minimum education level of the professors is a Masters degree in their respective fields as well as a clearing cutoff in NET JRF examinations. Most of the professors also have a Ph.D in their respective fields which makes them extremely knowledgeable and experienced in their fields. In my personal experience, the faculty has been nothing short of a delight. My professors were honest, precise and helpful. They were very open about their own experiences in the field and never held back any information that a student has the right to know. Questions were always welcome and help was available at all times. In a nutshell, the faculty is definitely wonderful.

Yes, there is a very active Placement Cell in KNC. They work tirelessly to get the students placed but it is a bilateral effort on the end of the Placement Cell as well the students wanting placements. Companies like Boston Consulting Group, MakeMyTrip, etc. have visited the campus and offered promising placements to many individuals.

The infrastructure is something that could use a little work. The hygiene and overall physical maintenance of the college is decent but not much really stands out about that. People do not expect much in terms of infrastructure from a government college but as a graduate, I know that there is potential to make the campus much better. The campus desperately needs to develop some more features that cater to the needs of disabled students. The building, however, is undergoing some improvements and some more classrooms as well as washrooms are under construction so hopefully, the infrastructure is going to be much better than before.

The campus life offered by KNC is definitely one of the best things I have experienced. The blend of students from all over the country gives the exposure that is much needed for students coming from all backgrounds. The vibrant potential in each of these young women is truly worth admiring and it is quite frankly something that is very capable of inspiring confidence. There are many societies including dance and music (Indian as well as Western), theatre, writing, NSS, environmental, sports oriented, as well as department oriented. The location of the campus is very posh and it is definitely a great area to be in. The fests and competitions organised by the college are good and the exposure provided by participation in competitions in other colleges is definitely a great tool to develop skill and confidence. DU is anyway infamous for great exposure for young students and KNC is a good example for the same.
